As humans nowadays, with all of our knowledge and access to information, we wonder sometimes… how is it even possible that people believed in some of the things that they believed in in the past? The earth is flat, the sun is a god, bigfoot is a thing… why would they think these things? But then we come across threads like this on twitter, and we kind of start to get it.

    If we had been cavemen coming across this cave a thousand years ago, we would have no doubt in ours minds that this is a real snake and that we should stay the heck away. Heck, we're not even 100% sure right now that this is not a real petrified snake.

    Has anyone checked? If this is a snake that lives thousands and thousands of years ago and got encased over time, would there really be a way of finding out? Because we need to know. Like- desperately. We need to know if the Basilisk from Harry Potter could have actually been a real thing.
